Defining Autonomy for Wellness Robots in Senior Care
IEEE researchers have developed a framework to measure autonomy in wellness robots designed for senior care, addressing the growing crisis in eldercare services. The system evaluates robots across seven wellness dimensions and uses a six-level autonomy scale similar to autonomous driving standards. The work aims to establish technical roadmaps for fully autonomous senior care systems by the early 2030s.
